“A priest, a nun and a nurse were all driving to the ocean in a car one day…”

Sounds like the beginning of a joke, but it’s not! It is the joyful reality of living at Santa Teresita at the service of the family for life! These three companions were driving to a mortuary situated in a little beach town along the coast of the Pacific Ocean. They were determined, driving 1 ½ hours through heavy traffic to be present at the rosary vigil for one of our dear Good Shepherd Cottage residents who recently went home to God! There was no uncertainty that Our Lady of Czestochowa, the mother and protector of Poland, was there to welcome our polish resident in her loving arms, since by a “God-incidence” she died on her feast day August 26th. Our resident was devoted to praying the rosary and the divine mercy chaplet.

How comforting it was for us to see her beautiful body one last time and arranged in her hands the rosary and the worn and tattered booklet of the prayers of the divine mercy chaplet. She is missed, yet her spirit lives on as do all the beloved who have died with us here on these sacred grounds. This is one of the most incredible and singular privileges of living at Santa Teresita. To walk along side our residents on their last journey home to the Father.
