Walking Into Friendship

Walking Into Friendship

Reflections on Catholic Healthcare

About mid-morning everyday, two figures emerge from the front door of the Good Shepherd Cottage. The friendship began at their first meeting here.  They soon found many common interests. As their friendship blossomed, they discovered that both of them enjoyed the great outdoors and that they both desired to stay healthy by frequent exercise. Thus the ritual began.

Engaged in pleasant conversation, their walk commences after the daily Mass. They wind around the parking lot, by the side of the St. Joseph Chapel and pause a while beneath the old oak tree.  Then they are off again, side by side, partaking in their morning exercise. The morning stroll lasts for at least a half hour and they often find themselves more refreshed than when they began.

It is amazing how a friendship can help foster both joy and health.
