A Day in the Life of Santa Teresita…Our Neighborhood of Care
The clock steadily moves forward throughout the day and lunch always seems to come earlier than I expect. Today, however, I was able to slip away a few minutes earlier than usual and head into the Chapel to make a quick visit to Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. He was not alone today
Approaching the Sanctuary from the Sisters’ little side chapel, I heard the sound of voices steadily reciting prayers. I glanced towards the main body of the Chapel and was surprised by what I saw
In the front pew sat a nurse, leading the Rosary. Beside her and in front of her sat two residents, devoutly praying alongside her. The total joy and relaxation shone through in their expressions. This was obviously not their first time coming to the Chapel as a little group.
In the course of her work, the nurse recognized the desire of these two to spend some time in the Chapel praying and she knew they could not go alone. They had formed more than just a nurse/patient relationship, this had blossomed into a true spiritual friendship. I silently slipped away and rejoiced as I continued to listen to the familiar prayers, overjoyed at the friendship shared among these three.
