Santa Teresita’s Good Shepherd Cottage was honored with a 2013 Design for Aging Review Citation Award!

Santa Teresita is proud to announce that our newly built assisted-living facility, the Good Shepherd Cottage, was awarded with a 2013 Design for Aging Review Citation Award. The Good Shepherd Cottage will be featured in the upcoming AIA Design for Aging Review book as one of the top exemplary facilities in the nation, serving as a model both for design and operation.

The American Institute for Architects’ (AIA) Design for Aging Knowledge Community is focused on fostering design innovation in order to enhance the built environment and quality of life for an aging society. Design for Aging recently held their biannual competition, which showcased facilities that exemplifies their mission while exhibiting innovation in their design and execution.

As this was a juried competition by both the AIA and LeadingAge, facilities receiving awards are held in high regard in their field.   Being honored with this award encourages the Carmelite Sisters and staff at Santa Teresita to continue the mission of being “At the Service of the Family for Life” through a well-built physical environment that fosters community, independence, and a quality of life that is fit for the dignity of the human person, most especially our beloved residents.
